The electrical repair area of my shop.

On the left end of the bench and mounted to the wall is the test setup for generators. This will test voltage and amperage of a newly refurbished generator. In the center of the bench a piece of testing equipment that is known as a growler and is used to determine the condition of the armature. It will detect shorts and opens within the armature. Behind the growler is an analog ohm meter that will measure very low ohms for testing field coils. To the right of the growler is a cutting tool that is used to remove the insulating material between the commutator plates after it has been turn on the lathe for concentricity. Behind this tool is a armature center stand used to re-wind the armature. At the right end of the bench is a tool used to remove the field coils from the generator body.

Above is a picture of the original shop with Ben Holtkamp is on the left. It's hard to see but on the bench, below the window between Ben and the fellow with his arms crossed, is the same growler that is in my shop today.
